A video captured the moment a Houston man was nearly killed by a big rig that barreled through a red light, KHOU11 reported Wednesday.
Kennard Robinson was only a couple of minutes from home when the rig slammed into his car and then fled the accident scene, according to KHOU11.
“I just saw something flying and coming quickly and was like what the,” Robinson told KHOU11. (RELATED: Shocking Hit-And-Run Caught On Camera As News Crew Films Interview)

Video shows Robinson’s car begin to move forward as the light turns green. A moment later, the big rig comes into view, its side ripping into the front of Robinson’s four-door sedan. Footage then shows Robinson’s damaged and smoking car roll slowly into the middle of the intersection.
“He just hit me, and he cleaned me out,” Kennard said. “All I remember is just like I was passed out. I was unconscious for a little bit.”
Kennard’s wife, Britany, was waiting for him to come home when Kennard reached her by phone, KHOU11 reported.
“Getting that call, my heart sank,” Britany said.
Kennard was shaken by the accident, telling KHOU11, “I’m scared to even go out and drive. I’m blessed to be here. My life could have been taken in seconds. I’m thankful I’m still here.”
The couple now hopes that police can get the rig driver off the streets, KHOU11 reported.
“It’s despicable honestly,” said Brittany. “How could someone be going that fast and have no regard for someone’s life? Every time I watch that video, it’s a gut punch.”
Kennard and his wife are praying that the available dashcam video helps police find the suspect, according to KHOU11.
“We’re not going to rest until we see this case entirely through,” said Brittany. “To whoever this person is, do the right thing and turn yourself in.”
Although a few more medical tests need to be run, Kennard is expected to recover fully.
