Shane Gillis has been tapped to host The 2025 ESPYS, giving the show a much-needed boost of equal parts excitement and star power.
The famous comedian will light up the stage July 16 to celebrate the most memorable moments in sports.
The ESPYS, presented by Capital One, will air live from The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and stream live on ESPN+.
“I’m excited to be at The ESPYS this year,” Gillis said in a press release obtained by the Daily Caller.
“I like sports so this should be a good time,” his statement added.

The ESPYS spotlight major sports achievements and unforgettable moments in both sports and entertainment, in addition to honoring leading performers.
Gillis will lend his talent to the show and bring his signature humor to the stage, breathing new life into the program.

“Shane is not only one of the top comedians today, but also a huge sports fan, which made him an easy choice to host The ESPYS,” ESPN Vice President and The ESPYS Executive Producer, Craig Lazarus, stated in the press release.
“We are thrilled to work with him to create an entertaining show celebrating this year’s best moments in sports and are excited to see what he’ll do on stage,” his statement continued.

Gillis is a sports fan at heart, and he is taking on the hosting duties while in the middle of an international stand-up tour that spans across nearly 40 cities — breaking the all-time comedy show record in an astounding 18 arenas, the press release said. Fans can catch Gillis in action as the star of his own Netflix show “Tires.” The series is back for its second season, holding firm in the Netflix Top 10.
He also co-hosts “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast” alongside comedian Matt McCusker.
