Leftists are buzzing over a Democratic candidate whom they believe will help return young men to their party’s fold.
If you haven’t heard of mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, he’s pretty much a communist, or at best, a hardcore socialist. In New York City, perhaps the epicenter of white liberals who want to play-act as left-wing revolutionaries, that makes him extremely popular. (Subscribe to MR. RIGHT, a weekly newsletter about modern masculinity)
Mamdani appears to have a slight lead over Andrew Cuomo, the famous centrist and a creature of machine politics, ahead of the city’s Democratic primary for mayor. He also seems to be leading Cuomo among young men, which is prompting a mini-wave of delusional takes about how Democrats can win back the demographic they lost to Trump and Republicans in 2024.
Three things driving Mamdani surge the last few weeks in @EmersonPolling:
1) Mamdani up 2:1 among Gen Z, millennials, young Gen Xers;
2) Mamdani +12 among men;
3) Mamdani +22 among white voters.https://t.co/7MpoEyd3DC

In line to vote early for primaries in Crown Heights right now. The entire block is filled with young white dudes aggressively approaching voters telling them to vote for Zohran.
The line to vote is HUGE.
Meanwhile, a few Cuomo volunteers—female and male, none of them are…

When people refer to “young men,” or Trump winning “young men,” or Democrats losing “young men,” they mean the average man in the America. A mix of working class, middle class, and some aspiring upper-middle-class, white collar professionals, from all parts of the country. They are not solely referring to elite, college-educated men of New York City. (RELATED: Weirdly Sexual Democrat Ad Won’t Win Back Young Men Anytime Soon)
The Big Apple is as American as apple pie and B-2 bombers, but it is also an outlier in that it produces such a high volume of extremely liberal and affluent people. Of course, these Manhattan men are going to vote for a left-wing mayor who wants rent control, government-run grocery stores, and a defunded police department. They’re the very same, smaller portion of men who voted for Kamala over Donald.
In other words, leftists are trying to project a phenomenon that could only happen in New York City into national politics. In other words, it’s pure delusion.
