Legendary artist Joni Mitchell announced Wednesday that she would reveal previously unreleased demos and collaborations with other artists.
“Introducing ‘Joni’s Jazz,’ a passion project years in the making, dedicated to her greatest jazz collaborators, including Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, and Jaco Pastorius,” a statement on her official Instagram page read. “Hand-selected by Joni herself, the compilation features tracks spanning her entire catalogue, including live recordings, unreleased demos, and collaborations with other artists.”

The 61-track jazz compilation will feature alternate recordings as well as rare music, according to People.
“Available on September 5, ‘Joni’s Jazz’ will be released on 4CD and 8LP, as well as digitally,” Mitchell’s team wrote on social media.
A very special gift was shared with fans that are interested in pre-ordering.
“Both the vinyl and CD versions include liner notes with rare and previously unseen photos and original artwork by Joni,” the statement said.
A pre-order link was made available to fans in the star’s Instagram bio.

The compilation features songs from Mitchell’s albums “Songs To A Seagull,” “The Hissing of Summer Lawns,” “Hejira,” “Mingus,” “Turbulent Indigo” and “Both Sides Now.”
One of the oldest recordings featured is the single “Marcie” that originated in 1968. Another gem made available to fans is Mitchell’s live 2023 performance of “Summertime” at the Newport Folk Festival.
Fans quickly flooded Mitchell’s comment section on Instagram with messages expressing their excitement.

Mitchell’s numerous accolades over the span of her decades-long career in music include 11 Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
