I think we can all be honest here … Jackson Holliday has been horrible to start his MLB career.
But despite the terrible play, the Baltimore Orioles second baseman hasn’t lost a lick of confidence.
Since making his Major League Baseball debut Apr. 10, Holliday — one of baseball‘s top prospects coming into the 2024 season — has come to the plate a total of 34 times. In those showings, he’s only managed to tally two hits, two walks … and get this .. strike out an incredible 18 times. Needless to say, Holliday hasn’t been getting many flowers with a disastrous .059 batting average. In fact, he’s been getting hit with criticism from baseball media and fans alike. But he hasn’t been getting blasted with just your average backlash, he’s dealing with an even bigger target because he’s the son of a friggin’ seven-time All-Star — Matt Holliday.
Despite all that, however, my man issued out the most boss response ever in regards to his struggles.
“Obviously, I wasn’t expecting this,” Holliday told The Athletic. “I knew what I was getting myself into. It’s the best of the best of the best for a reason. I guess I haven’t had a challenge yet, and this is the first one … It’s obviously challenging, but I feel like I’m handling it the best that I can.”
Jackson Holliday isn’t too concerned about the abysmal start to his MLB career because he sees this as the first ‘challenge’ he’s ever faced on the diamond.
