Video captured a male New York City cyclist Sunday night appearing to assault and beat Jewish children, according to a report.
The children attacked were dressed in Jewish orthodox garb, The Jerusalem Post reported. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) also said there was an additional victim not captured in the video footage, The Jerusalem Post reported. The footage shows a cyclist getting off his bike, moving toward the sidewalk, and appearing to get physical with children. The perpetrator appeared to toss one child to the ground, then appeared to kick the victim repeatedly before fleeing the scene.
“The suspect then pushed the victim to the ground causing a minor laceration [to] his head,” the police said, the outlet reported. “The suspect fled southbound on Franklin Avenue. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”
The NYPD also said they received a complaint about a bicyclist who approached and attacked a Jewish father and son playing on the sidewalk in the same neighborhood, The Jerusalem Post reported.
Antisemitic incidents have increased globally since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack on southern Israel, according to data provided by the Anti-Defamation League. Hamas’ attack left 1,200 Israeli citizens dead and over 200 captive.
