A storm that has soaked areas of the Southeast will continue to do so on Sunday, as a low pressure system makes its way northeastward into the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast.

Strong winds could accompany the storm in the Southeast, while in New England, rain could change over to snow.

A Pacific storm was expected to slam into the West Coast, bringing with it rain and high-elevation snow to the Northwest and Northern California before spreading into the Great Basin.

Winter Storm Warnings were in effect for the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California, as over a foot of snow was forecast for higher elevations. In the lower elevations, many areas were expected to get more than an inch of rain. Several other storms were expected to follow through next weekend.

Temperatures in 30s and 40s were expected Sunday in the Northeast and Northwest; in the 50s and 60s in the Southeast; and in the 20s and 30s in the upper Midwest.

Temperatures in the lower 48 states on Saturday ranged from a low of minus 8 degrees at Gunnison County, Colo., to a high of 82 degrees at Fort Myers, Fla.
