Air America, a politically liberal radio network, was found dead Thursday in its New York City offices at the age of 5. After an autopsy, the cause of death was listed as cultural and fiscal asphyxiation.

Launched in March 2004, Air America was seen as the progressive movement’s answer to such radio personalities as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. As of late January 2010, both Limbaugh and Hannity were still employed in radio.

The Air America network is survived by Ron Reagan (MSNBC), Ana Marie Cox (MSNBC; Washington Post), Rachel Maddow (MSNBC; People), and Al Franken (United States Senate, a smoking, hollowed-out crater).
