Peter Gowland was born April 3, 1916 and died March 17, 2010 at the age of 93. Gowland was a master photographer whose photos have graced the pages of over 1,000 magazine covers and included women such as Deborah Kerr, Joan Collins and Rhonda Flemming. Peter Gowland’s photos glamorized beautiful women and idolized the Southern California beach lifestyle.
He was also an incredibly accomplished inventor of new cameras which he built and sold from his garage. His best known camera was his twin-lens Gowlandflex camera which was sold to buyer such as the FBI and Navy.
Mr. Gowland is survived by his wife, two daughters, two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
