The world-famous Hollywood sign that towers above Tinseltown could soon be ripped down forever – unless $3m (£1.95m) is raised to save it within hours.

The clock is ticking for the iconic giant white letters… can they be saved?

The iconic sign has stood on the hill, called Cahuenga Peak, since 1923, and is one of the globe’s biggest tourist draws.

But there are just hours left to rescue it from oblivion.

The landmark giant white letters in Los Angeles are owned by the city – but the land they stand on belongs to a group of Chicago-based investors who are considering selling up to developers.
