During today’s feisty testimony by the executives of Goldman Sachs,  Senator Carl Levin (D-MI) confronted a trader for the financial titan over an email that described a mortgage deal as “shitty.”

Daniel Sparks, who was the head of the company’s mortgage desk, was asked about an email that he received from Thomas Montag, the former head of sales and trading, in which investments that were sold by the firm were described as “one shitty deal.” Senator Levin then grilled Sparks over the email, in which the executive claimed that he did not remember the exchange with Montag.

Levin retorted, “If you can’t give a clear answer to that one Mr. Sparks then we’re not going to get any clear answers from you today.”
