The House unanimously passed a bill introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa, ranking member on the Oversight and Government Reform, meant to erase any loopholes in current law that still allow mail to be sent using the word “census.”

Such action is the result of census-themed fundraising letters sent out by the Republican National Committee. On Tuesday, Issa, a Republican, said the RNC’s mailings “plainly violate the spirit and intent of the law,” harsh words for his party’s national organization.
