Expanding farmers markets and community gardens, asking street vendors to sell fruit and launching a marketing campaign to encourage better eating habits are some of the recommendations from a city panel formed to improve demand for and access to healthy foods.
Using contributions from private sources, the panel has also hired Baltimore’s first “food czar.”Baltimore City Food Policy Director Holly Freishtat will act as a consultant who will help direct city food policy.
