CLEVELAND, Ohio — A mysterious note lead police to a corpse that was stolen from a Cleveland crematory.

Police say the thief broke into the Greenfield Crematory on Lake Court on the Cleveland’s east side early Wednesday morning.

Not only did they get away with the hearse, but also with the body inside.

Employees of the crematory are still stunned by the theft.

“I don’t know when exactly they realized there was a body in the van but they found the body and dumped it,” says Zach Nicol, the assistant manager at Greenfield.

Cleveland police officers found the stolen van blocking a driveway on East 55th street, and discovered the thief had a conscience.

“There was a note in the van from the thief and he left us a note telling us exactly where he dumped the body,” said Nicol.
