Though supermodels lead outwardly glamorous lives, the pressure to stay in shape and on top proves fatal for some. Just two weekends ago, top French model Noemie Lenoir tried to commit suicide. And among the high profile models who’ve died recently are Ambrose Olsen, Daul Kim, Hayley Kohle and Ruslana Korshunova, who lost her life after falling from her apartment balcony four days before she turned 21.
Ambrose Olsen, who’d starred in dozens of campaigns for Armani and Hugo Boss, was discovered hanged. And Daul Kim hung herself in her boyfriend’s apartment.
But why would a promising young person with a seemingly perfect job, face and figure be desperate enough to try to snuff out her own life? The life of a model can be not only fiercely competitive, but often lonely, mental health experts say.
