WALLA WALLA, Wash., May 31 (UPI) — Authorities said they are investigating allegations of deer poaching by a minimum-security prisoner at Washington State Penitentiary.

Prison spokeswoman Shari Hall said the prisoner, part of a crew working in a recycling area, allegedly came across the deer Saturday when it was caught in some netting at the facility’s pheasant farm, located outside the main perimeter, the Walla Walla (Wash.) Union-Bulletin reported Monday.
