Some armed robbery suspects hide with distant relatives or in motels. Others lead police on high speed chases. But not many are clever enough to use lily pads as camouflage.

After robbing an Oaklyn, NJ Taco Bell, two unidentified suspects fled to a nearby lake. Police didn’t have a hard time finding the dunce of the group, who was “hiding by the edges of the lake” according to a report by the local ABC News affiliate. The other suspect, clearly the brains of the operation, found a more innovative hiding place: A lily pad.

Sadly, police weren’t impressed enough by the second suspect’s ingenuity to let the two off the hook. Guys, we’re pulling for you.
