A California man who was tasered after resisting arrest died Tuesday, probably because he had cocaine in his system, the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting.

Police were attempting to arrest Michael White, 47, for assaulting an elderly neighbor, according to authorities.

White apparently died of “excited delirium” due to the cocaine in his body and the stress of struggling with police officers.

The family is questioning whether the officers used excessive in trying to restrain White.

The Chronicle reports:

“I don’t care if he was acting strangely, it’s no reason to Taser him,” Carlyle-Taylor said Wednesday. “He should not have been killed.”
