Public alligator hunting season is underway in Florida, but to even the odds, you can only use a bow-and-arrow, pole spear or rod-and-reel to catch them. No guns.
By opening day Saturday, The Miami Herald reports, nearly 6,000 permits had been sold for the season, which ends Sept. 12.
