If you donate money to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) by midnight tonight, you will be entered to win a trip to New York City, and the chance to sit in the audience of the man who every liberal political junkie is dying to meet.

And while there, you can also meet President Barack Obama.

The donor who wins the DSCC’s contest will get to meet the president, and, to sweeten the deal, receive two tickets to see a taping of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.”

One would think that meeting the president would be big enough draw for anyone donating to the organization, but perhaps in an election cycle where many Democratic campaigns are seeking to distance themselves from Obama, the DSCC thought something more was needed.

According to Steve Albani, a press contact for Comedy Central, “[t]he DSCC approached Comedy Central with a request for tickets to ‘The Daily Show’ and the network provided two tickets to a taping.”

On the comedy show, Stewart, “unburdened by objectivity, journalistic integrity or even accuracy,” as his website proclaims, has never made any effort to hide his liberal political leanings. But in this case, Albani says, “The show was not involved with and had no knowledge of the request from the DSCC and, as such, has no plans to mention it on the show.”

Tickets to the show are free and can be reserved online, and Albani said by e-mail that the network has provided tickets to “both the DNC and the RNC each time the show has gone on the road to cover the national conventions, dating back to 2000.”

The DSCC did not respond to requests for a comment.
