A gunman reportedly shot and killed himself after opening fire at the University of Texas at Austin this morning.

The Austin American-Statesman reported that Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo confirmed that the shooter is dead from what appears to be self-inflicted gunshot wound. There were no reports of other injuries. The campus’s emergency medical service department said it hadn’t treated anyone this morning.

University spokeswoman Rhonda Weldon said the campus was put on lockdown around 8 a.m. Tuesday following a report “of an armed subject” at the Perry-Castaneda Library. A statement on the UT website, at 9:02 a.m. Tuesday, said “stay in place, lock doors.” A loudspeaker on campus was announcing there was an “emergency” on campus.
