The head of the Republican Party on Sunday predicted “an unprecedented wave” on Election Day, even as polls in some states showed Democrats gaining ground in their bid to hold power.
Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele predicted the GOP would win control of the House and possibly the Senate in eight days. Democratic National Committee Chairman Tim Kaine cited “strong trends” that could keep both chambers of Congress in his party’s hands.
