The [New York City] Department of Health has launched a new campaign to rein in binge drinking just in time for the holidays.

Ads featuring a bloody-faced man and a woman passed out on the subway steps after a night of heavy boozing are set to appear on subways this week.

“Two drinks ago you would have walked away,” reads the tag line on the ad showing the man after a bar fight.

“Two drinks ago you could still get yourself home,” the ad featuring the slumped-over woman reads.

The campaign – dubbed “Stop drinking while you're still thinking” – comes in the aftermath of a report showing that 1,500 New Yorkers die each year and 70,000 end up in the emergency room after drinking too much.
