New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie reaffirmed that he’s not running for president in 2012 on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace.

When Wallace brought up a new poll that has Christie as the only Republican that, at this point, could beat President Barack Obama in 2012, 43 percent to 40 percent, Christie said, “the president can rest easy.”

“The only guy who could beat him in the poll isn’t running,” Christie said. “I have a state to run. I love New Jersey.”

Wallace pushed Christie even further, asking him if he thought there were “more problems” in the White House, and why he wouldn’t consider bringing his methods on cutting spending in New Jersey down to Washington.

“I think I can help New Jersey — I don’t think I can help New Jersey in the White House than in the State House,” Christie said. “You have to believe in your heart you’re personally ready to be president and I’m not there.”

Wallace wouldn’t stop there – he asked Christie in what way he thought he wouldn’t be ready to be president, to which Christie answered he hasn’t had enough experience in an executive position. Wallace, still not satisfied, mentioned how Obama “showed us all in 2007,” that “when it’s your moment, you have to move.”

“Listen, that is a decision he made,” Christie said. “And he obviously was successful in winning the presidency. My view is I want to, if I ever would have run for the presidency, if I was ever to do it, I want to make sure in my heart I feel ready. And I don’t think you run just because political opportunity is there. That’s how we wind up with politicians who aren’t ready for their jobs.”
