Since the announcement of the royal engagement, several Kate Middletons have been losing their Facebook accounts.
Kate Middleton is a 29-year-old help desk administrator from Northamptonshire, England, and Facebook suspended her account for being an impostor.
When she discovered that her account was suspended, Middleton (the healthcare assistant, not the royal fiancee) was confused. She told Time Magazine that Facebook “should have got in touch with me first, asked me to contact them within a set period of time and prove who I was.”
Multiple Kate Middleton’s have encountered the same fate at Facebook’s hands.
A spokeswoman for Facebook told CNN that the company reviews content every day to ensure that Facebook remains a safe environment, and for this reason Facebook does not allow fake names or aliases.
“Of course, we make an occasional mistake,” she said, “This is an example. When this happens, and it’s brought to our attention, we work quickly to resolve the issue.”
