My second knee update in as many days, because I know how much you guys love them

Just got back from physical therapy. Today was the christening run on my new knee, still using the crutches but putting partial weight on the leg, and it passed with flying colors. I was able to get to the therapist and back without incident, including the half-mile walk to and from the Metro station, and the leg feels pretty good as I’m sprawled out exhausted on the couch. Even just putting partial weight on it works wonders for your balance. It’s a little bit less of an upper-body workout, but whaddayagonnado.

As for the PT itself, Sue, my terrific therapist, started me on the leg press with very light weight, and I did the one-legged treadmill — standing with my right foot on the side of it and “walking” with my left foot — very slowly. It’s a start. I was able to bend my knee to 115 degrees without pulling with my hands, which is the farthest since the surgery. The pain is subsiding week by week. Feels like I’m getting somewhere.

In case I haven’t said it lately, thanks to everybody who’s been so kind and supportive throughout this whole mess. It really does help. And to everybody else… oh well.
