Protesters outside of the Libyan Embassy in Washington, D.C. have raised the flag of the former monarchy, a banner used by anti-Gadhafi demonstrators in Libya.

Embassy Row, the location of many embassies based in Washington, presents a blend of grandiose and dilapidated buildings. Some have been vacated following the construction of a new building, other have been victims of fire or neglect.

The Libyan ambassador to the United States has essentially defected from the Gadhafi regime. With the future of Libya uncertain, the future of the Libyan Embassy’s current home is in question too.
