Ed Schultz: A pattern of angry invective

Might the lesson MSNBC’s Ed Schultz had to learn after calling conservative talk show host Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut” change the outspoken liberal talker for the better?

Although Schultz has been suspended from his network without pay for those particular remarks, he has had a history of making outrageous statements over the years, both on his radio show and his MSNBC show, as Media Research Center President Brent Bozell pointed out in his reaction to Schultz’s on-air apology Wednesday night.

“His apology was full, unequivocal and a breath a fresh air. We wish Ed would have shown the same remorse when saying we should ‘rip out’ Dick Cheney’s heart, when he called Liz Cheney “shooter’s little girl,” or when he said Republicans enjoyed watching people with cancer die,” Bozell said. “MSNBC should have demanded apologies for the litany of offenses in Ed’s past.”

Watch:

Penny Nance of the conservative group Concerned Women for America explained this is par for the course when it comes to liberals. However, she took it a step further and proposed the MSNBC host lose his position at the network.

“There is nothing liberals fear more than a strong, conservative and outspoken woman,” Nance said. “They will attempt to cut her down by any means necessary to neutralize the threat. Apology or not, Ed Shultz should be swiftly relieved of his position at MSNBC for his brutal attack on Laura Ingraham. The message that was sent to young women across this nation is that if they dare to hold conservative views and speak out, they can expect nasty ridicule with no one coming to their defense. Laura Ingraham’s radio show is one of the most listened to in the entire country, so maybe Mr. Schultz was just jealous that he could never measure up. Regardless of his motivation, Laura has something he will never possess, and that, my friend, is class.”
