Chris Christie says he expects to serve his full term as New Jersey’s governor, but has left the door open to saying “yes” to being the vice presidential candidate on the GOP ticket in 2012.

He made the comments Tuesday night while on a national tele-town hall call to discuss his endorsement of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. (RELATED: Christie endorses Romney)

One of the estimated 750,000 people on the call asked Christie if he’d consider serving on a ticket with Romney.

“I’ve told him my only interest is helping him get elected president, and serving my state for the time that I’ve been elected, which is through 2013,” Christie said, “so we won’t make any of those decisions unless and until we have to.”

He added: “I think anybody who gets the nomination for president of the United States has the absolute right to pick whoever it is they want for vice president, who will work with them best, serve them best, serve the country well and be prepared to serve as president in the unfortunate circumstance that that would be needed. That’s going to be Gov. Romney’s choice.”

“The fact is, I have every expectation that I’m going to be serving my full term of governor of New Jersey,” Christie said.
