Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry’s campaign manager, Rob Johnson, told The Daily Caller that Perry is against requiring individuals by law to purchase health insurance and favors repealing the entire health care reform law.

However, Johnson would not say if the Lone Star governor is against prohibiting insurance companies from denying people with pre-existing conditions coverage, which is part of “The Patient’s Bill of Rights” in the health care law. Without an individual mandate in place, some argue that people would be able to wait until they are sick to purchase health insurance.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear the individual mandate case. To date, 26 states have sued the federal government, arguing that the Constitution does not grant Congress the power to force individuals to purchase health insurance.

Johnson’s comments were made after the GOP presidential debate on November 22.
