Texas Gov. Rick Perry took stabs at former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum on Tuesday morning.

Going after Romney, Perry took the same track other GOP candidates have when attacking the former Massachusetts governor, arguing that Romney isn’t really a conservative.

“I don’t have any doubt that if it is just me and Mitt Romney who the Republican primary voter is going to pick all across this country,” Perry said in an interview on the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom” on Tuesday. “They are going to pick the true, authentic conservative, not a conservative of convenience that Mitt Romney is.”

Mere hours before, in an interview on CBS’s “The Early Show,” Gingrich attacked Romney in virtually the same way. “I wish Mitt would just level with the American people and be who he really is and let’s have a debate between a Massachusetts moderate and a real conservative,” Gingrich said. Perry has recently attacked Santorum over earmarks, too. When asked about those attacks, Perry said he’s “having a little fun with Rick.”

“He’s running as a fiscal conservative and you look at his record in Washington, D.C. for those years that he was there — he is the king of pork barrel politics,” Perry said. “You know, I love Iowa pork but, Washington pork I don’t have much use for.”

Santorum has seen a last-minute spike in the polls, and is considered a serious contender to possibly win the Iowa caucuses on Tuesday evening.
