Islam is the religion of peace, and you’d better shut up about it if you know what’s good for you.

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good old-fashioned jihadist death threat. I’m pretty sure this is the first one all day. The Times of India reports:

Salman Rushdie will not attend the Jaipur Literature Festival due to security reasons, organisers of the festival said on Friday, after protests from some Muslim groups who called for the controversial author to be banned from entering the country.

Rushdie has got intelligence reports from Mumbai and Rajasthan police that assassins might attack him during his India visit…

The publication of the Satanic Verses over 20 years ago sparked a wave of protests around the world after Iranian leader Ayatollah Khomeini claimed that the novel’s portrayal of the Prophet Mohammad insulted Islam.

Because it’s never too late to hate somebody for saying things you don’t like, or that you’ve been told you cannot like. And that’s the end of it, because criticizing these guys for making death threats and plotting Rushdie’s assassination is racist.
