William Shatner’s five-year run as the Priceline Negotiator is over.

The 80-year-old “Star Trek” actor, whose role as a travel deal discoverer was his most memorable in years, ended his reign as the Negotiator by careening off a bridge in a travel bus.

“We decided to do something really over the top to get the message across,” Priceline.com CEO Christopher Soder told the Los Angeles Times.

Soder said the company was taking the ads in a new direction.

“I’m in grief mode,” Shatner told the Times. “It’s not the first time I’ve had an iconic character die off.”

Shatner’s Star Trek character, Captain Kirk, was killed off the in the film spinoff “Star Trek: Generations” in 1994. Coincidentally, Kirk also periled in a bridge-related death.

At least the Negotiator died doing what he loved — giving people the best deals on vacation packages.

And although Shatner’s character more than likely could not have survived the explosion, Shatner is still under contract with Priceline, the Times noted.
