It pays to be famous. Literally.

For some celebrities, all it takes is a few taps on the iPhone to turn a tweet into $50,000.

If Kim Kardashian tweets about her latest purchase from ShoeDazzle.com, there’s a few grand. All Charlie Sheen has to do is mention Internships.com in a tweet, and he gets a paycheck in the quadruple digits.

This month’s issue of New York magazine breaks down how much celerities can earn per tweet:

  • $50,000: Charlie Sheen
  • $10,000: Kim Kardashian
  • $8,000: Snoop Dogg
  • $5,000: Paula Abdul
  • $2,500: Whitney Port

The most amazing thing about these figures is that most of time the celebrities don’t even compose the messages themselves, according to the magazine. Instead, Twitter-savvy ghostwriters are paid to write tweets for celebrities.

It must be nice to get paid to do nothing.
