Good news for victims of sexual assault at Occupy camps: Kos and Olbermann say it never happened

Courtesy of Lee Stranahan at Big Journalism, here’s a clip from Monday night’s broadcast of Olbermann’s community access program:

“This movement has gone far beyond the actual protests themselves. The message itself has taken on its own meaning. It’s sort of kind of almost broken free from the Occupy protests, so they can be as filthy and they can rape people — if you want to make stuff up —but the fact is nobody really cares about it because that message isn’t about the messenger, it’s not about who’s delivering a message, but it’s about the message itself which really resonates at a very core emotional level with people who are suffering in this economy.”

That Kos certainly has a lovely speaking voice, doesn’t he?

I don’t think I would’ve handled those Occupy CPAC protesters the way Breitbart did, to say the least. But Olbermann can’t seem to decide whether Breitbart’s outburst was the act of a raving loon or a calculated political ploy. You’d think it would have to be one or the other, right? But whatever. Screaming the same phrases over and over is crazy, unless Occupiers do it.

That’s secondary, though. The main takeaway here is that if you’ve been raped at an Occupy camp, you don’t matter. You’re hurting the cause. The people who claim to be your friends weren’t able to cover up the crime committed against you, so now you must be discredited. If you don’t want to be belittled and defamed by people on TV you’ve never met, you should’ve kept your mouth shut.

As Stranahan also notes, this isn’t the first time Olbermann has sided with rapists. Anything to help out a comrade, eh, Keith?
