The New Orleans Saints plan to bring in receiver Randy Moss for a workout Tuesday, we have confirmed. Moss, 35, is returning to the NFL last year after a one-year retirement.

It’s possible the Saints just want to bring him in for a look to see what kind of shape he’s in. The Saints have done that with a number of players in the past when they feel a need to update their scouting reports. They did the same thing last month with veteran linebacker Lofa Tatupu, who is returning from a one-year injury hiatus.

It’s also possible, though, that the Saints might have a strong interest in the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Moss, who was one of the most dynamic playmakers in NFL history in his prime. The Saints could potentially lose two of their top four receivers in free agency – Marques Colston and Robert Meachem. And Moss probably won’t cost much at this stage of his career.
