St. Louis bowler Pete Weber achieved pro-bowler stardom recently, clinching the U.S. Open championship for a record fifth time.
Going head-to-head in the 10th frame against opponent Mike Fagan, Weber calmly bowled a strike to seal his narrow 215–214 victory.
But at the drop of the last pin, Weber lost all self-control. Amid his celebration of sporadic air-punching and swearing, Weber roared, “Goddammit, I did it! … Who do you think you are?” and then followed that question with, “I am!”
At age 49, Weber is the oldest U.S. Open champion.
