Christian Bale, the onetime “American Psycho” who famously had a psycho meltdown on a film set, proved that he does indeed have a tender side during Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards.
The cast of “The Dark Knight Rises” was onstage to present a new clip from the the final film in Christopher Nolan’s “Batman” trilogy, and also take a look back at the first two films, “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight.”
After clips of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker in “The Dark Knight” were shown, Bale was visibly choked up.
“Man, great to remember Heath in that moment,” he said, trying not to cry. “Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there.”
Ledger died in January 2008 from an accidental overdose of prescription medications. He won a posthumous Academy Award for his supporting role as the Joker.
