Richard Khamir Hurd pled guilty to attempting to extort money from Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III today, reports WTOP.
Hurd, a former Baylor basketball player, first contacted RGIII’s agent in June threatening to publicize damaging information about Griffin, unless he was paid $1 million.
The agent contacted the FBI, who instructed him to offer $120,000. When Hurd accepted the offer and signed a non-disclosure, he was arrested.
Hurd now faces two to three years in prison for one count of a threat related to extortion. The Redskins have given no comment on the matter.
