The cast of ‘Friends’ drank enough caffeine to kill a whole lot of people

“Friends” ended nearly a decade ago, but if Chandler, Joey, Ross, Rachel, Monica and Phoebe were all real life friends, they would have kicked the bucket way before the tenth season.

Everyone knows the friends’ favorite pastime was sitting on the couches of Central Perk, drinking coffee since the whole bar scene trope was already used by “Cheers.”

Throughout those 286 episodes over 10 seasons, each friend drank enough caffeine to kill them several times over, according to a Scientific American analysis.

Assuming that each of the friends drank two of their oversized mugs of coffee during each episode, the group consumed three POUNDS of caffeine — not coffee, but caffeine. According to Scientific American, this is enough to send 300 people to the hospital, if they are lucky that the high caffeine dose didn’t simply kill them.

During the show’s 10 seasons, the group consumed an estimated “3,100 gallons of coffee — enough to fill over half a freight container,” and enough to send more than 1,900 people to the emergency room.

So the real reason that “Friends” reunion is never happening is because caffeine killed them all.

If this is the case, there is absolutely no way Don Draper would not have died of liver failure by now.
