House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp slammed the Obama administration’s report regarding its 2014 health insurance premium estimates on the Obamacare exchanges.

“Today, the Administration confirmed that the President will not keep his promise that Americans will see a $2,500 decrease in their premiums,” Camp, a Michigan Republican, said.

“Their announcement made clear that Americans across the country will pay more for health care,” he added. “Hardworking people in the state of Michigan could pay 50 percent more than they do today. Americans need relief from this unworkable law, that is only fair.”

Camp’s office compared data on the average 2013 premium rates for 27-year-old male and females compiled by the Manhattan Institute with the data released Wednesday by HHS.

Based on their calculations on average a 27-year-old men will see his premium increased increase by 49.74 percent should he enter the Obamacare exchange. A woman of the same age would see her premium increase by 11.92 percent on average.
