Last night was a weird night for Paul Park of Portland, Ore. After bizarrely insulting Mother Jones Co-Editor Clara Jeffery he tried to walk back his words.
@ClaraJeffery this tweet is the moment today’s internet dumbness reached singularity

Weirdly, Park then tries to explain himself.
@ClaraJeffery 1) that was meant as a compliment to you and 2) I don’t really know what singularity is

Park is a volunteer and event coordinator at a nonprofit in Portland, Ore. that helps to provide “comprehensive solutions to end homelessness and achieve self-sufficiency.”
Reached by phone, Park — when questioned about his tweet — said, “It wasn’t much of anything. It was kind of a mindless tweet.” Me: “Come on Paul. Listen to what you wrote.” After reading him back his tweet, he denied calling her dumb. “Not at all, I was referring to what [she tweeted] …it was offhanded,” he said. “It was truly not calling her dumb.”
Is he a big fan of Mother Jones? Does he read it? Of course, he replied.
And then, “I’m at work right now and I would rather not get into personal stuff while I am at work.”
