MSNBC’s Bashir walks back defecation remark

Bashir_7.22It’s pretty hard to walk back a desire that someone should defecate in Sarah Palin‘s mouth.

But today MSNBC’s Martin Bashir did his damnedest to do just that by sincerely apologizing to the former governor of Alaska for last Friday suggesting the unthinkable.

Looking rather grim, he said, “My words were wholly unacceptable. They were neither accurate nor fair. They were unworthy of anyone who would have an interest in politics and they have brought shame upon my friends and colleagues at this network, none of whom were responsible for the things that I said. … I am deeply sorry. Upon reflection I so wish that I’d been more thoughtful, more considerate, more compassionate, but I was not. …I deeply regret what I said and I have learned a sober lesson in these last few days. … I promise I will take the opportunity to learn from this experience.”

Bashir, outraged over Palin comparing the U.S. national debt to slavery, shared stories of punishments that slaves once received and suggested that Palin should get the same punishments — which included someone pooping as well as pissing in her mouth as well as getting flogged and pickled.

But forget about all that. He’s sorry and promises to never say anything like that again.
