Tesla’s infotainment system is on fire!

Tesla’s 17-inch dashboard touchscreen infotainment system is bursting-into-flames cool, and controlling both your car and entertainment has never been smoother.

The responsiveness of the touchscreen “is just shy of what you get from an iPad,” according to a Business Insider review, and functions far beyond any of its predecessor’s attempts.

This is especially important to Tesla’s premiere Model S, as there are hardly any other buttons inside the car. The infotainment system controls stereo, lighting, locks, panoramic roof, temperature, navigation via Google Maps, web browsing and even your Twitter feed.

It provides real-time information and control over braking, suspension and energy consumption. The high-definition rearview camera is a nice touch for merging or backing up, and every driver in your house can drive and chat hands-free as the system lets you Bluetooth-sync up to 10 different phones.

If Tesla’s weren’t catching fire already, one might worry that so many features – all of which are available while the car is in motion – might lead to distracted drivers and accidents.

And if everything else about Tesla –including its scorching price – is a little too hot for you right now, BMW will reportedly be using the same system in upcoming models.
