Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd, 21, will play a young Princess Leia in Disney’s “Star Wars: Episode VII.” She will be featured in flashbacks.

Director J.J. Abrams chose Lourd because of the visual similarities to her mother, according to the Daily Mail.

“Billie flew into the UK to join her mother earlier this month,” a source said. “She will even have her hair tied up in Princess Leia-style buns. She’s an aspiring actress and singer so she grabbed the opportunity with both hands.”

“Carrie backed the move as she wanted somebody in her family to play her most famous role,” the source continued.

The movie is scheduled to be released December 2015, but there have been some setbacks, such as when Harrison Ford was injured on set. The 71-year-old actor broke his leg when a spacecraft door fell on him.

Ford’s Han Solo will pilot the Millennium Falcon once more for “Episode VII.” (RELATED: George Lucas Museum Will Be In Chicago)
