Playboy Slides Further Into Obscurity By Crowning Ivy League School As Top Party School

While the massive triumph of Internet journalism has been hard on all manner of legacy media, perhaps no publication has been hit harder than Playboy. The once-proud peddler of soft-core smut and quality writing for lovers of leisure and randy teenage boys has been dwindling as a brand for some time now.

However, The Daily Caller never dreamed it would come to this: Playboy has decided to name the University of Pennsylvania as the best party school in the country.

This year’s ranking of UPenn as America’s top party school appears to mark the first time that Playboy has bestowed the honor upon an Ivy League school filled with nerds, eggheads and dodgeball targets.

The rationale for the inclusion of the fancypants Ivy League redoubt on — and atop — this year’s the list is the element of creativity.

“Yes, an institution worthy of inclusion on our annual list of top party schools still needs to offer numerous and frequent opportunities for collective debauchery,” Playboy explained in the introduction to this year’s list. “But these days colleges have been offering more creative approaches to partying, along with world-class nightlife and musical events that make the competition even fiercer.”

The schools on the list, the men’s lifestyle magazine swears, “are expanding the definition of what constitutes a good time.”

Other schools on Playboy’s 2014 list of party schools include Syracuse University, the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Penn miraculously jumped at least 10 spots since last year. As Business Insider reported in 2013, the school was nowhere to be found in on Playboy’s 2013 list of party schools — when West Virginia University was the lucky winner.
