Graphic images of dismembered babies and pre-born fetuses posted outside of high schools and colleges are necessary to convey the pro-life messages of Created Equal, Executive Director Mark Harrington said.

“Abortion is an act of violence that kills a baby,” Harrington said. “No words are sufficient enough to describe the horror of what abortion represents – a picture is worth a thousand words.”

The pro-life advocacy group set up its display outside of Pickerington Central High School in Pickerington, Ohio Wednesday. Created Equal’s exhibition consists of large poster boards containing images of abortion victims, unborn fetuses and brochures that explain its mission statement.

A YouTube video was released after the demonstration Wednesday, which shows an enraged abortion advocate hurling the poster boards backwards while shouting profanities.

“This is disgusting. The fact that I have to look at this – you don’t share my views,” the unnamed opposition said in the YouTube video. “To do this outside of a high school is fricking ridiculous.”

Harrington claimed this type of reaction is rare. When asked why the group targets high schools and colleges for their campaigns by The Daily Caller, Harrington explained that the demographic most vulnerable to abortion resides on these campuses.

“They’re not being taught that in school, they’re not being taught that at university,” Harrington said. “They’re not seeing abortion imagery, so really we’ve got to do the educating outside of the classroom.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio’s Executive Director Kellie Copeland declined to comment on the incident.

Created Equal says their mission is to “take the truth in love to the streets of our cities.” When asked what its response would be to someone who has had an abortion, Harrington said the organization would empathize, rather than stand in judgment.

The pro-life advocacy group uses its shocking images as conversation starters, as it aims to create dialogue with young people about abortion. While pro-choice advocators, like the woman in the YouTube video, may object to its methodology, Created Equal’s system of delivery is permissible.

As the officer in the video plainly stated: “Disgusting is not illegal.”
