Democratic strategist Joe Trippi told Fox’ Gretchen Carlson the Democrats needed a “minor miracle” in order to win the Senate, including winning three of four races they’re currently losing.

Carlson noted that Trippi had been cautious in the past. Trippi agreed, saying 2014 has been a “strange year,” with ten races within the margin of error.

Four of those races he saw as a Republican lock. “South Dakota, West Virginia, and Montana, those three states will end up in Republican column. Almost everybody agrees with that. Arkansas is starting to look very, very tough for Democrats.” (RELATED: Gutfeld: Republicans Aren’t Winning, ‘Democrats Are Losing’)

From there, he said Democrats would need to win three of four races where they trail in the polls: Iowa, Colorado, Louisiana and Alaska. “Is it possible? Are we in striking distance of all those states? Yes.”

But “possible” does not mean “likely.” “In my view,” Trippi said. “Given the year, given the states Democrats are fighting in, it would take a minor miracle to hold the Senate.”
