He started working for the future First Family when Barack Obama was just a state senator, but now the president’s personal chef is calling it a day. Sam Kass, recently married to MSNBC’s Alex Wagner, will be leaving the White House at the end of the year to move to New York to be with his wife.

Kass told the Wall Street Journal, “I love this family and believe in the work that we’re doing and the mission of the president and the first lady. But after being recently married, I have to put our future first.”

But Kass won’t be off the public dole completely, he is expected to remain active in promoting Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” initiative, though it is unknown what that will entail.
