Two Florida deputies saved a man from a burning car on Christmas in 2014, and newly released video shows the heroic rescue, ABC News reports.

Joseph Trimboli and Eric Keyes responded to a crash where they found a burning car just before 3 a.m. on Dec. 25 in Destin, Fla. The flames engulfed the back of the car and were spreading to the front, where an incoherent man sat inside, clothes on fire and unable to get out.

The video shows the officers repeatedly yell at the man to leave the car, but the window is rolled up and the doors are locked. One officer smashes the window with his baton and reaches in to pull the man out.

The deputies were able to save the man’s life. The sheriff’s office said the man was intoxicated. He was treated for minor burns and smoke inhalation.

Body cameras are usually touted as a way of holding cops accountable for excessive force, but this new video proves a different use is possible. Body cameras have the potential to rebuild trust between law enforcement and the public if videos like this continue to emerge.
